Martin Black has respect for the image and his models. His chubby maidens don't bawl, but tend to bash the viewer one on the head, if he doesn't get out of the way in time. Likewise a mouth, which would be genuinely sewn up someplace else, receives only the hint of being pinned up here. His work takes on a burlesque character, like a good pyrotechnic show in an old warehouse on the edge of town.
Martin Black's images are good-natured, non-subversive and powerful photos from a world which he can only capture because he looks really very closely. And because he understands what he is doing. Incidentally some well-known protagonists in the scene, such as Madeleine Le Roy and Fräulein Venus, also romp around in the book - an unmistakable sign that a glossy image and glossy prints are no coincidence here. But no one who looked at the gorgeous photos would think that anyway. Or what were you just thinking about?
The memorable prologue is presented by German forensic biologist and member of the science council of the society for scientific investigation of para-sciences Dr. Mark Benecke. In charged up themes and seven, thematically-separated chapters, the coloured photo book is touching on deep layers, fantasies and desires: The fetishist!
