Review Flash

Last November I wrote the review to MEGATON SWORD’s debut EP ‘Niralet’, I concluded or predicted that with a sound like that they would be sure to play at Keep it True Festival in 2020. To my surprise they did not make it into the 2020 line-up and even if they had managed to do so, Covid-19 would have been the ultimate cock-block. Either way, MEGATON SWORD is back and stronger than ever! The EP presaged the quality of the coming LP and now as I sit here, I have to say: Keep it True or not, this is a banger! Uzzy sounds a bit like Ozzy Osbourne here and there but not to an extent that would bother me, there are moments he reminds me of Jason Tarpey of ETERNAL CHAMPION which I deem excellent. Chris the Axe provides the lifeblood of the Epic Metal Narrative in the form of mighty riffs and melodies while Dan Thundersteel on drums and Simon the Sorcerer provide the pacing and rhythm to make this heart of steel beat. The overall sound of these four men of Metal is sure to make Crom smile benignly, if only once because he is an unremorseful God. The comparison with both ETERNAL CHAMPION and MANILLA ROAD is an obvious one but that is not all there is to discover aside from the lyrics there are even glimpses of MANOWAR and CIRITH UNGOL.

Conclusion: The writings were right; MEGATON SWORD are aware of the secret of steel. Maybe after Corona is done with cursing the lands, these young men can test their mettle on the sacred grounds of the Keep it True...
