Review Flash

MEGATON SWORD from Winterthur, Switzerland exploded on the scene in 2019 with their first EP ‘Niralet’. From the get go everyone with proper hearing organs realized that sweet mix between MANILLA ROAD and ETERNAL CHAMPION with just enough influence of NWOBHM bands like SAXON to lure the older Metal heads into their sound as well as the newer Epic fans. I did reviews for each release they put out before and now with their third release one thing stays the same: the guys still do not speak that much about their private life and still go by their stage names. Vocalist Uzzy Unchained is still, as uncut and charmingly weird as he sometimes sounds, the focal point of the band’s sound. Don’t get me wrong: the riffs provided by Chris the Axe and Seth Angel are on point and create a lot of the displayed atmosphere and the rhythm section (Simon the Sorcerer on Bass and Dan Thundersteel on Drums) sets the pace. Some tracks (‘Might’) are hard to “get”, I read the lyrics but I guess it’s a song that is not to be taken serious when it comes to the text. The other track that seems off is ‘Babe Eternal’ - I don’t have the lyrics to that one but the name of the song alone is a s cheesy as it gets. But these two tracks don’t take away from the album being a proper banger in my opinion, if you like it epic you definitely should check these guys out.

Conclusion: Like ‘Lord of the Rings’ but wished that ENYA would have never touched the soundtrack of this masterpiece? This is the kind of music that should be used for movies like that.
