Review Flash

Picture the scene. It’s a roasting hot, sun-filled early afternoon at any of the big European alternative music festivals. Two tiny figures, lost on a vast stage, bound about in face-melting heat, occasionally shouting into a mic, or tweaking a mystery button on a synth, but generally just saying “C’mon” and “Let me hear ya” a lot to a sparse and indifferent crowd, save for the few brave souls at the front, going ape in full apocalyptic clobber, who just live for this shit. That could very well be SHIV-R, who have a new album out. It’s a mixture of harsh, industrial, shouty ranting about God and stuff, and how crap it is to be always first on at festivals. And slightly less shouty stuff with bits of singing and a bit more melody. There’s an absolute ton of this stuff out there but if you need more, this will neither challenge nor disappoint you.

Conclusion: What time is the next band on?
