NEW WORLD DEPRESSION from Emsdetten, Germany was formed in 2005. The band plays brutal as fuck Death Metal that is so rough it manages to put quite some Extreme Metal band in their place. The main piece of the band to do so is vocalist “Hütte”, his throat is a place where melodies come to die a horrible death (this is a compliment by the way). Tracks like ‘Panzer’ and ‘Scoff Til Death’ are merciless attacks on the listener, ferociously clawing, biting, kicking and punching you while lying on the ground begging for a breather amid the ruthless beating. Aside from Hütte’s vocals the brutality is less palpable as the band manages to maintain a certain melodic groove throughout the violent narrative. Before meeting the band outside of a gig, I was not aware of NEW WORLD DEPRESSION, I slowly but surely drifted into extreme metal over the last two (plague) years and suddenly found myself on this death metal festival where I met the guys and had a ton of fun with hilariously brutal music. If you love your music brutal, rough and bloody you will adore this output but if life and limb is dear to your Symphonic Metal worshipping soul: RUN!
Conclusion: A record like bar fight, bloody, dirty and smelling of sweat and booze... count me in!
