In our project we try to remove borders in music styles and continents. The only thing which is important is tattoo as art. We are very happy that today we have Stephen Voyce (formerly known as VOYCE*) as a guest; he is a Canadian/ Nigerian singer, songwriter, music producer and actor. He is first of all a musician who works in Hip-Hop / Pop and the first person from Canada who takes part in our project. I am appreciating this possibility very much and I am happy about the openness of Stephen by answering the question. You can check it out now by your own…
The guitar part of the dark scene continues to blossom. A lot of new young projects have appeared, which surprise not only with the quality of the material, but also with unexpected stylistic combinations, the language of lyrics, own unique features and the talent of composing. As I have often said a lot of times before mastering and mixing could be bought, but talent and ability to compose music cannot.
Going back to the middle of the 2000s, when I started creating such tops, I selected Electronic Gothic music into a separate top list, because it was a significant part of the dark scene. Then there were a lot of young projects and the old ones released albums quiet often, so they were worthy of the attention of the whole dark scene audience and not just fans of Synth Goth and Gothic Electro. It was the year 2018. The format genres of Electronic Gothic music became more and more rare.
The scene of rhythmic noises has generally moved to Techno this year more than usual, which is kind of alarm. Personally I do not want my favourite projects to start playing softer experimental music and there is a tendency for this. The Rhythm Noise grandees began to release experimental releases using other styles of electronic music already in 2017, but even not this is alarming, but the fact that new projects that have appeared in pure Rhythmic Noise over the past two years can be counted on the fingers even with one hand. New labels are being created where Techno orientation is the main goal, among which you can easily find rhythmic noise project in that way or another.
The Post-Industrial scene has undergone changes in the past couple of years. The feeling is that many Dark Electro projects are looking for their right sound. Someone went to the metal guitar area, which was heard more than once and in most cases was not successful at all, but the scene was losing another good band. Electro Industrial groups continue to create and they continue to succeed in that. Classic EBM sound also begins to return and not in the form of popular in the 00s Anhalt EBM or modern Old-school sound, but in the incarnation that contains modern EBM including dance melodies in between dry minimalistic sound and dense complex mechanical structures.
