Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: When did you get your first tattoo and what was it? Did it take much time until you decided to get it done?
André: I got the first tattoo at the age of 19. It was demon's face on my right upper arm. The fact I wanted to have tattoos was already clear since I was 16. My friends had already their first colour under skin but my parents have allowed me to do it only when I became 18. However, after my 18th birthday I still had about one year left to find the right motive and the right artist.

If you are reading this webzine, you surely know that Wave is a general term now widely used to group different “dark” musical styles: New Wave, Post Punk, EBM, Synth Pop, Darkwave... If everybody agrees that the origin of those genres lies in the 70ies, it is not so easy to pinpoint which year, which precise moment and which artists and/or songs marked their actual birth.

Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: When did you get your first tattoo and what was it? Did it take much time until you decided to get it done?
Alexandra: I did the first tattoo already at a very mature age, after 20. Now I just cannot say at what time exactly it was, I think 22 to 25. I have always been a connoisseur of tattoo art, but I needed much time to choose my own tattoo. I wanted to do something that would remind me of the unchanging essence of things, and not just a picture in honour of a milestone in life.

Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: For me personally tattoos are art, so what are the tattoos for you? Is it art? Is it any other way to remind you about some important things of your live?
Tomi: For me personally it is a subculture and also a form of art. Of course now, when it is getting really popular and you can see tattoos everywhere. But for me, when I was a kid, I saw tattoos mostly on those guys from prison or on sailors or on some Rock’n’Roll guys. I feel tattoos as a little bit rebellious thing. Of course it’s a very beautiful form of art and it’s developing all the time and there are a lot of artists around the world, great artists and also in Finland which is great. If you want to have really beautiful tattoo it’s possible to get it in Finland also. For me personally it’s a little bit as subculture. But if someone will get a tattoo it’s not a problem for me. Everybody can do what they want with their bodies.
