Album Review

CHROM a German band formed in the year 2007 by Christian Marquis and Thomas Winters released their second album ‘Synthetic Movement’. After their debut album ‘Electroscope’ CHROM take their music to the next level. I think the years for future-pop are far behind but with releases as ‘Synthetic Movement’ I feel a little bit wrong. With their second album CHROM construct a real interesting and elaborated sound. They show much more evolvement in ‘Synthetic Movement’ and use some experience with EBM influences. The opener ‘Memories’ is a fast-paced electronic track with a quite catchy melody. The second track ‘Surrender’ grasp the mood and lift it to another high.

So are the following tracks, giving you a compact and wonderful experience with very little time to concentrate on anything else. Most of the lyrics are more or less about love and relationship but this doesn’t matter with a wonderful sound-curtain, well-thought musical constructions and a clear shape which carry us to a long gone time from future-pop. ‘Synthetic Movement’ is a fresh blow and show us, that Future-Pop is not dead. CHROM release a mature sound and the clear voice from Chris sustain a strong crowning through the whole album. So CHROM really understand the way how Future-Pop should sound in this years and ‘Synthetic Movement’ is definitely one of the strongest releases so far.
