CYBER SNAKE, a Russian band that released its first CD in 2009, is back with its fourth release, namely ‘Drive’. What is obvious from the beginning is that the band is influenced not only from the Industrial scene but mainly from the Synth Pop and Electro Pop scenes. Add to that Muza’s almost operatic with hints of Symphonic Metal vocals and you have a pretty good idea what the band is about. As I read in the site of the band, “CYBER SNAKE is one of the first Russian bands who create music compositions by the trends and according to the international standards of Industrial and EBM music”. I think this is the point where the problem starts, something the band is unable to see. What you get in this CD is like a rock-pop clone of OMEGA LITHIUM and at the points where the band excels itself, namely in ‘Eyes To Eyes’ you get the feeling that the band is holding back its creative powers in order to fit to the “international standards” and the “trends”. Fortunately this CD can be downloaded for free.
