Album Review
Air raid sirens overlay orchestral electro metal and gunfire to introduce this really impressive album starter 'Weapons in Paradise'. Musically, this is off the scale good but the mix is too low on the vocals to make them properly audible which is beyond frustrating as this is a really awesome track. 'Divide' is gratingly loud and loutish, screaming discords jarring your brain in such a good way and on this track the vocal mix is thankfully fine. The self disparaging 'Assholes like me' comes next with a great mix and clever lyrics with soaring guitars and an arrangement that leaves me breathless.
'Bitch' is a master class in solid rhythm and awesome guitar work with the usual excellent vocals whilst 'Painkiller' is a complex and noisy affair that must have been hell on earth to put together to get the right mix of noise and discord with harmony and tune. 'I am your violence' comes back to a more normal realm of driving hard metal, guttural drums and bass lines which is nice as it gives the musicians no opportunity to hide behind effects and shows their prowess to the full. 'Only one possibility' is clever and melodic, with a driving electro feel to it and beautifully balanced vocals whilst 'Salty rain' is a lighter affair again.
'Time' sounds almost pure electro initially making this album a very interesting venture indeed as it slides into metal seamlessly. More of a similar vein with track ten, 'EinSchlag' and I'm realising how talented these guys are getting the blend of electro and metal just right on every track. That is the last of the unique tracks, the following four being remixes of what has gone before. Notable in this group is the driving 'Painkiller' (Profanity remix) which is an example of a remix at its best. An awesome band well worthy of anyone's attention!
