Album Review
„Once I write a song, I’m beginning to build a house. I’m tearing it down and building it up again. And again and again, until it’s breathing independently. My heart is longing for that huge desire…“ - CÄTHE
She has almost done everything: being a vendor in a sex-shop, working as Santa Claus or as a pickling agent... so why not being a musician? While working in several jobs by day, Cäthe Sieland wrote almost 1,000 songs by night over the years. In 2010, there seemed to be the time to record an assortment of 17 songs - ‘Señorita’ is therefore the first signal of life… or should I say: Signal of noise?
CÄTHE is definitely not one of those who strikes the calm notes. Not at all, she’s a brat! Her sound is pretty bitchy, punky and a bit weird. It’s not the usual chart stuff and probably will not be in future… and that’s the reason why I’m definitely into it. The fact of being a Diva, while instantly changing to Lolita and still being a small town chit is fresh and unconsumed. The compositional easiness amplifies in using electronic elements as well as rough and weird guitar sounds - and then there’s the voice…! It’s just simple: her voice is unique. It’s not one of those you’ve been fed up listening to. Due to the fact that her voice is as much convertible as her music, CÄTHE is a music act in Germany, one should definitely keep an eye on!
