Actually, the full title of the meanwhile fifth MEW studio album is ` No More Stories Are Told Today I'm Sorry They Washed Away No More Stories The World Is Grey I'm Tired Let's Wash Away´. Sounds complicated, doesn’t it? According to this extraordinary title, the music of the Danish threesome is rather unusual and experimental. Advertising the album as Experimental Dream Pop, Jonas Bjerre, Bo Madsen and Silas Graee stand for a progressive Pop sound whereas the Pop label seems to be way too trivial for what the guys are delivering. Thus, the opening track `New Terrain´ sounds like a composition coming from another galaxy. Engrossed melodies combined with high-pitched vocals result in a listening experience similar to a strange but nice dream.
Less weird, but experimental in another way is `Introducing Palace Players´ that mainly lives on traditional guitar lines connected to inventive keyboard sounds and special vocals. Speaking of vocals, the bright and angelic voice of front man Jonas gives its imprint on the entire production and is the main reason for making the recording that idiosyncratic. Every now and then, MEW also uses well-tried stuff, but fortunately spices it up due to experimental sounds you will find en masse on `No More Stories´. There are so many breaks and synth effects embellishing the beautiful MEW Pop style and extending the songs to epic tales; just Progressive Pop in an entertaining manner, and as creative as the chosen track titles. Therefore, I really enjoyed listening to the innovative and outstanding `No More Stories´.
