It’s obvious that many talented musicians have already understood how to create good qualitative music and such notion as “purity of style” sank into oblivion long ago. So it’s really great because in that crossover of different genres there appear new horizons for creative people and sophisticated audience. American formation MURDERDOLLS plays the peculiar musical blend and on their new album entitled ‘Women and Children Last’ you can hear almost anything, from standard powerful heavy riffs and catchy glam metal tunes to bright elements of industrial and emotional delivery typical for punk rock. The vocals may remind you a lot of ALICE COOPER and MARILYN MANSON but it must not be considered a shortcoming. For example, ‘Drug Me to Hell’ which is a very impressive piece with an interesting rhythm, makes a listener remember about the mentioned artists and proves that MURDERDOLLS doesn’t yield to them melodically and lyrically.
Actually, the lyrics are rather simple and devoted to rockers’ favourite subjects but on the album they create a nice contrast with the vigorous and I would say stirring sound. In this respect, such songs as ‘Nowhere’, ‘Summer Suicide’ and ‘Blood Stained Valentine’ are quite cheerful and even inspiring at least musically. In general, there are no ballads on the CD and the songs just can’t make a listener sad quite the contrary they may charge with positive for a whole day. One can say that Rock’n’Roll is back maybe slightly changed and protests are expressed a bit differently. Thus ‘Women and Children Last’ the total length of which is about 45 minutes features 14 striking tracks that will definitely interest any lover of good music and here it’s good indeed. Even those who like so called true styles may find something cool for themselves as everything new is well forgotten old.
