Album Review

The new STEREOMOTION long-player `SEHN:SUCHT´ is in the starting blocks: The meanwhile third full-length recording after `Resistance: 2012´ and `Apocalypse: Forever´ is going to be released on 9th October 2009. Containing all in all 10 danceable tracks, mastermind Florian Jäger not only addresses his recent piece of work to lovers of technoid rhythms. Though `SEHN:SUCHT´ is a certain representative of Electro style, the record also lives on additional organic instruments such as guitar and piano. Moreover, the album distinguishes itself due to an enormous variety making appear `SEHN:SUCHT´ everything but boring.

The atmospheric intro `Lernen durch Verlust´ comes up with a distorted and ghostly female voice leading over to wafting keyboard sounds and punching beats. Already intrigued by that promising introduction, I was delighted by the second track `Addicted´ which is definitely one of the strongest songs from the album. This piece also displays the powerful effect of involving an e-guitar, as `Addicted´ gains a lot of energy and strength caused by the usage of not only synth sounds. Combined with whispering male vocals and catchy tunes, Florian Jäger was able to create an instantly-addictive and hypnotic track that will make your legs move. `Pride´ is a further dance floor filler that is introduced by fragile piano sounds. Completed by Jäger’s mystical vocals and some sample lines, the anthemic piece impresses with an undeniable catchiness.

If you are pleased by old school EBM stuff, you will enjoy the mid-tempo `On your Knees´. Mercilessly pulsating rhythms and the genre-typical singing result in a catchy melody and will certainly cause a dance floor inferno. The dragging `Sturm und Drang´ is pretty different from the previous track: A spare piano melody is used throughout the dark and electronic song featuring a feverishly drifting character despite a throttled rhythm. The rather technoid and at the same time melodic `Forgiven´ is an irresistible anthem fans of VNV NATION will feel comfortable with. Thus, Florian Jäger has delivered a great long-player convincing with fresh and catchy tunes that are recommendable for those who are into melodic Electro combined with e-guitar sounds.
