Diorama & Faderhead
As soon as I entered the venue, which was around 30 minutes past eight, the front part of the Willemeen was already filled with people that were waiting anxiously for the bands. As everybody will agree with me, this weekend felt like summer holiday in Holland. It was quite warm and the Willemeen really wasn’t any better, the air-conditioning either isn’t there, or wasn’t turned on. And well, you know, with bands like these there will be a lot of dancing and partying going on… time to see how this evening would involve into one big dance and an even bigger sauna!

Escape with Romeo, Akanoid
Beltane usually means a dance night into the May. This year I decided to watch a concert instead featuring German ESCAPE WITH ROMEO and AKANOID at the Underground in Cologne. Already early before the doors opened, people gathered in the beer garden outside the concert hall to have some beers and meet up with friends.

Kristin Hersh, The McCarricks
The Theaterhaus in Stuttgart is a rather new location (in 2003 the Theaterhausverein Stuttgart took it on) featuring various artists and performances, from theatre to cabaret and concerts, mainly of local or alternative bands. The building is very modern, but with a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, and the hall this night's concert was going to take place in, possesses a very steep auditorium - so a fantastic view on the stage was guaranteed even from the last tier. Under those good conditions I was looking forward to experiencing KRISTIN HERSH and her band - a singer who has been in the business for quite a long time now and is probably first acquainted with her long-term band, the THROWING MUSES, who could celebrate some successes in the early nineties and have not split up to the present day, though the members are at the moment all concentrating on their own projects. Hersh is currently involved with her new band; a Hardcore-Punk influenced project called 50 FOOT WAVE, and is also working on solo stuff. But this evening the first ones on stage were THE McCARRICKS from Great Britain with their headstrong, calm show. http://www.theaterhaus.com

Onetwo, Technoir
Who does not remember the Glam-Goth pioneers PROPAGANDA? Yes, it is long ago. But hits like ‘Dr. Mabuse’ belong to any 80s party. The dance floor orientated music of the band from Düsseldorf was following the tradition of KRAFTWERK and CAN. But also the Liverpool situated band OMD will have never been forgotten. OMD is one of the fathers of Synth Pop. Now, the two protagonists of those bands came together for a new project: Claudia Brücken and Paul Humphreys are ONETWO. During their live shows, the band presents new arranged hits of OMD and PROPAGANDA, such as ‘Electricity’ Or ‘Dr. Mabuse’, as well as new material which is theatric, but also entertaining and melodic. As support act, the German Synth Pop band TECHNOIR opened the evening.

Laibach
LAIBACH is one of the most controversial but also one of the most reputable bands from our scene. This spring, the Slovenian group returned to present the material of their much-debated concept album ‘Volk’ (released 2006) once again. http://www.laibach.nsk.si / http://www.myspace.com/laibach
