‘The Fireside Sessions’ was written and recorded during the lockdown and will be released on August 21. The EP consists of five songs written with the band’s fans during a series of streams on Instagram Live entitled “Saturday Songwrite”. As a bow to this collaboration, ‘The Fireside Sessions’ will be released under the banner of SNOW PATROL AND THE SATURDAY SONGWRITERS. The EP was produced by Iain Archer. It will be released digitally and on CD. Prior to the EP release there was the single release of ‘Reaching Out To You’ on July 30th.The band works for the EP with the Trussell Trust Charity, and all proceeds from the project go to the charity to fight poverty. Frontman Gary Lightbody says of the creation of ‘The Fireside Sessions’: “During the lockdown, I wrote a song on Instagram Live every Saturday. People from all over the world attended, and there were 4,000 – 5,000 people every week over the course of the hour involved: THE SATURDAY SONGWRITERS, they suggested chords and lyrics, and I put them all together and added some of my own ideas where appropriate, but my unwritten rule was that every line of the song had lyrics from a Saturday songwriter We did it for 11 weeks and wrote 12 songs together. It was a lot of fun.” The result is an EP that contains besides ‘Reaching Out To You’, also the songs ‘On The Edge Of All This’, ‘The Curve Of Earth’, ‘Dance With Me’ and ‘Light Years’.
