Swedish metallers IN FLAMES have issued the following update: "As you probably know by now, we are currently holed up in IF Studios recording our new album. Things are going VERY well and we are making steady progress and are on schedule. So far eleven drum tracks has been laid down, six bass tracks with four more to be done over the next days, and we are also working hard with the guitar foundations. So far seven rhythm guitar tracks are finished and we are about to start with the solos this week. Legendary drummer Paul Bostaph (ex-EXODUS, ex-SLAYER) will join the ranks alongside originating classic thrash legends TESTAMENT - Chuck Billy on vocals, Alex Skolnick on lead guitar, Eric Peterson on rhythm guitar and Greg Christian on bass. Unfortunately Nick Barker will not be recording with TESTAMENT on this new album, due to Homeland Security and International Work Visa issues. Rather than delaying this long awaited return of TESTAMENT, the band has chosen to recruit Paul Bostaph, long time friend and member, to record on the much anticipated album, which is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2008 release via Nuclear Blast. On October 19th, Einstürzende Neubauten are to release their new, independently produced album "Alles wieder Offen" for the EU market (US fans will have to wait until October 23). Working outside normal record business market mechanisms, Einstürzende Neubauten recorded the CD over some 200 days in their own studio funded by their world-wide network of subscribing Supporters via www.neubauten.org. In an interview for Re-public Blixa has been quoted saying that if the record releasing process (i.e. supporter subscriptions, self released album, independent promotion) doesn't work out financially this time around they "will not be able to continue working". If this means that the band would fold alltogether is not clear yet. However, it also means that releasing material outside a label is not always the easiest thing to do, especially financially. - Details

Dear Area4, we'll see you again next year!
The Area4 Festival celebrated it's very successful debut on the Borkenberge Airfield (between Dortmund and Münster) in Lüdinghausen this year's august. The wide grounds between the Ruhr-area and the Münsterland, surrounded by hills, forests and fields were the perfect choice for an Open-Air festival. The promoters received only positive feedback from all involved. The local authorities and the renters of the airfield were very satisfied, approved the Area4 Festival for the next year and are really looking forward to it. Many attendees sent us excited reviews. They always approached us with one request: “Please go on. North-Rhine Westphalia needs the Area4 Festival. May it rock the west from now on and every year!”
