Review Flash

Even if it´s an obvious play on words, but it is the chemistry that´s right on ‘Life Is Chemistry’, the current 5-track EP from the Greek quintet SKINNER BOX. In the periodic table of styles not too far away from the ones like GARBAGE and PORTISHEAD (relating to the density and colour of the basic mood), the tracks shape a fragile kaleidoscope, with each of them being a differently polished mirror. Gentle guitars, reflecting electronic layers, heavy distortions and above all the voice of Vana Rose, whispering and yelling, murmuring and shrieking, seducing and full of fire and brimstone. This bunch of songs definitely reacts… chemical and perceptional… with ears, mind, blood and conscience...

Conclusion: ‘Life Is Chemistry’ is a shimmering and fragile gem with a high density of emotion and intenseness. Stylistically polyhedral, it ensnares and absorbs you, makes you going astray among the scattering lights of indie, post rock, trip hop and wave, blinded by reflections of a disturbing beauty.
