The Raleigh, North Carolina based COLOSSUS (MEGA COLOSSUS since 2016 to stop the mixing up with other bands of the same name) were assembled in 2005 by former Instrumental duo Nicky Nixon (Guitar) and Ben Smith (Drums) also known as PERROSMITH, completed by Sean Buchanan on vocals, Taylor Lauritson on guitar and Rylan Wilshire-Eschelman on Bass. COLOSSUS draw heavily on the mighty lineage of JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN and SLOUGH FEG. This band sounds like they are having a hell of a time while blasting your ears of with trueness. Awesome guitars, great vocals, high screams and a rhythmic duo that is laying the groundwork for the rest. This bunch is a bit on the odd side but even remind me of THIN LIZZY because of the great guitar work. I began the day not knowing that new material arrived and now I find myself being a fan already. What we have here is a galloping, mid-paced brand of epic heavy metal you would not want to miss.
Conclusion: If you are into great guitar pieces check out the song ‘Jihad!Jihad!’ and buy all of COLOSSUS and MEGA COLOSSUS.
