TIME RIFT have formed in Portland, Oregon in the year 2014, they rose out of the ashes of DOOMSOWER (a Doom band who would have guessed with that name?). TIME RIFT play Hard Rock in a similar vein of DEEP PURPLE and BUDGIE (pre NWOBHM Heavy Rock). Levi Campbell is the versatile bass-armed Narrator fronting the band with Ian Gillan like bursts of vocal mania, Justin Kaye is riffing straight forward, creating the high-melodic environment for Campbell’s screams and Terrica Kleinknecht is pace-maker and clockwork of the band. HIGH RIFT switch between high energy Rock and Heavy Rock, never loosing track of their 70s influences while also citing the great hooks and emotions of the NWOBHM. It’s tracks like ‘Fire in her Eyes’ and ‘Eternal Rock’ that have great airplay value, but little gems like ‘Another Name’ and ‘Better than Life’ sell it to old fucks like me.
Conclusion: The name TIME RIFT is a fitting one for a band that manages to transport you into the past with their music.
