Review Flash

Two years ago I read about Steven and his one man project OATH, the writer reviewing ‘Legion’ was proper fan-boying over the raw, old-school release and I got quite clairaudient. I had to take my time with the music but I fully understand the fascination and love as I listen to ‘Computer Warrior’. OATH borrows sounds from the NWOBHM, 80s Pop and Hard Rock. The Pop influences are rarely there but there is a catchiness to some of the songs that can only be described as poppy in the best imaginable way (‘Mean Streets’ could be a DURAN DURAN song). This time around Steven worked with Trevor Church on drums (HAUNT, BEASTMAKER, HYSTERIA and many more) and you can hear that. Steven managed to compose some timeless music with his head and heart in the golden times and his guitar pointed straight ahead into the future. Bands and projects like OATH are the living, breathing proof that Heavy Metal from the UK can still kick some major ass and make people very, very happy.

Conclusion: If you love music that reminds you of the NWOBHM and excellent newer bands like HAUNT and TANITH you owe it to yourself to check out OATH right now!
