Who would have thought how much I learn about foreign countries and cities because of bands that are based there? WAR CLOUD is a band from Oakland, California (Bruce Lee once lived in Oakland’s Chinatown). Jack London, author of ‘The Call of the Wild’ and ‘Wildfang’ and MC HAMMER, world famous rapper, were citizens of Oakland too. So quite a lot of people from different arts deemed this city worthy to live there or were even born there, WAR CLOUD like those mentioned before are quite talented and know their craft. WAR CLOUD was formed in 2014 and these guys managed to release two LPs a live album and an EP in that timespan (some need over 20 years for that). Musically ‘Chain Gang’ ranges from MOTÖRHEAD to W.A.S.P, Klein’s voice is variable and rich and he hits the notes with the same bull-headed fierceness that made Lemmy such a special vocalist. The ROCK GODDESS cover ‘Satisfied then Crucified’ is way more melodic, this gives Alex the opportunity to show off his skills and surprise me with more range than I expected after listening to ‘Chain Gang’. Just like I recently said about IRON CURTAIN: I am not a fan of MOTÖRHEAD but if a band reminds me of Lemmy’s lads but their vocals are dope: count me in!
Conclusion: For fans of W.A.S.P, MOTÖRHEAD and fans of 80s US Metal in general.
