It is strange that in these strange, dark times my coping mechanisms to handle life becomes more and more violent and with violent I mean violent as fuck Heavy Metal. CHEMICIDE is a Thrash Metal band from San Jośe, Costa Rica and man, these guys are brutally pissed! The topics for their lyrics are social injustice and violence and thy do sound exactly like that. ‘Common Sense’ is the band’s fourth full-length output and some parts of the Thrash community already scent this to be one of the best records of 2022. This music is not for the faint of heart that much is crystal clear from the get go, the vocals are rough and fierce as it gets while the riffs cut like knifes and the drums are sending everyone right into beast mode. The amount of rightful aggression on this juggernaut of an album is massive as is the talent behind the music. The technicality and speed on one hand and the brilliance of the transitions when it comes to changing pace and getting a bit of complexity into the mic every here and there is just straight bonkers. From groovy slow-burn moments to almost progressive break-neck speed is what I am here for. When it comes to influences SODOM, KREATOR and HAVOK come to mind and that, ladies and gentlemen, is a good thing.
Conclusion: If you like the sound of the legendary German thrash bands mixed with some newer stuff like LOST SOCIETY you are in for a ride.
