Review Flash

In the March of 2021 I had the pleasure to listen to this bands very first sounds breaking against the shores of my mind, with tracks like ‘North Sea’ and the title track ‘Servants To The Tide’ the nautical vibe of the band was nicely used to approach Epic Doom in a different way. Three years later SERVANTS TO THE TIDE are not sea-bound any more. What could have been depriving the band of their uniqueness turns out as a blessing in disguise as they are free of the shackles their original approach could have been. The first thing I noticed is that Stephan Wehrbein’s vocals sound fuller and way crisper as before, this is a big step sound-wise as the first output already sounded outstanding. The seven tracks are rather long, only ‘Towards Zero’ end in under four minutes. Track number five ‘If The Stars Should Appear’ on the contrary has three acts and comes to a close after over ten minutes. With a bit over fifty minutes this beast is a bit longer than many enthusiasts of true steel prefer it to be but ‘Where Time Will Come To Die’ really doesn’t bite that big of a chunk out of your day so you should take a moment and fully indulge in this heartfelt collection of no-bullshit-epic-doom. This time around the sound feels a bit closer to CANDLEMASS than ATLANTEAN KODEX in my opinion. Maybe one of the records of 2024.

Conclusion: For fans of ATLANTEAN KODEX, WHILE HEAVEN WEPT, CANDLEMASS and SAVATAGE.
