Review Flash

IRONFLAME’s front man, multi-instrumentalist and Andrew D’Cagna is known for his work with quite a few bands. Aside from IRONFLAME he sings in COLDFELLS, ICARUS WITCH, INFIRMARY, UNWILLING FLESH just to name a few. Two years ago, I was astonished by the last record ‘Where Madness Dwells’ and now I have the absolute honour to listen to the successor ‘Kingdom Torn Asunder’. Right from the start I can tell that D’Cagna’s vocals have improved even more (not necessary but impressive as fuck). A song like ‘Majesty Of Steel’ reminds me very much of metal royalty like Ronnie James Dio (this shit makes me feel stuff). Vocal-wise this is one of D’Cagna’s best records, the tracks are catchier and the vocal melodies are executed brilliantly. ‘Standing Tall’ feels a bit like something that MANOWAR could have done in the 90s but with a bit less high-pitched screaming. After a good half of the record, I can state that the difference in the overall sound may or may not be a result of Andrew D’Cagna having a full-fledged band this time around. The riffs by Jesse Scott and Quinn Lukas really help to flesh out the scenarios. Somehow this feels like one of those albums in the 80s that is now referred to as a breakthrough record.

Conclusion: For fans of DIO, MANOWAR, VISIGOTH and the very best of IRON MAIDEN, RIOT and even QUEENSRYCHE. IRONFLAME has really grown beyond themselves.
