Single Review
FUNKER VOGT have returned with a new single that paves their path for a full length album. The single presents ‘Hard Way’, an anthemic song, catchy as hell, enriched with choruses and hard beat tempo that in its two versions of it has been transformed to more Industrialised aspects, with the No Rules Mix being more dominant than the Ta Box Mix. Whilst ‘Fabrik’, a B-Side, carries the air of edginess with its sounds being closer to the early 80’s Industrial. All these songs make the whole single enjoyable and interesting. But this is only half of the truth. The other one is that ‘Hard Way’ is one of the band’s best songs, with an epic beginning that employs an operatic aspect and raises expectations, which are by no means disappointed as the song progresses and as it does so it actually pulverises the other song, not to mention the other versions, in this single. It renders them obsolete, good only for the ultra fans of the band. And while this is acceptable in a single its inclusion in a full length album poses tremendous problems as it demands the rest of the songs to be of equal quality else it will register them as fillers, something that does injustice to FUNKER VOGT. It is certain that the whole situation will provide the band’s members with quite pleasant headaches and most certainly there is a great chance of one of the best albums of their career to be expected!
