Single Review
LOWE is a Swedish trio formed in 2002. They’ve had some recognition in their home country, reshuffled the line up on the keyboards. Their discography counts four albums and many singles. Last month saw a release of another one of those, ‘Breathe In Breathe Out’, which is the focus of this review. The single-titled song is a mixture of NEW ORDER, CAMOUFLAGE and DEPECHE MODE. They seem to be taking that sound with a little lick of modern paint into the present, but don’t expect much innovation or original ideas. The extended version of ‘Breathe In Breathe Out’ is just an extended walk through this neo ‘80’s, early ‘90’s of what you heard from the original scene rehash.
If you’ve loved the era, of course you’ll love this music, but the point is, you’re listening to recycled musical ideas, structures, and effects. The third ‘Alpha Bravo (This is the Thrid Day of Our Freedom)’ begins more promising, more up to date, but it still echoes other influences (I have a feeling they’ve watched ‘Resident Evil’), I think it’d have also been better as instrumental, the singing comes out a bit cheesy. An enjoyable singe, but nothing new under the sun, I doubt you’ll remember much of it after it stopped playing.
