Album Review

Founded in the year of 2000, THE VISION BLEAK are amongst the most established German Gothic/ Dark Metal bands. Spawning a discography with six full-length records, one single, one EP and a demo, the band’s most recent output ‘The Unknown’ develops their Lovecraft-inspired lyrics as well as their dark, haunting music one step further. Including nine different songs, ‘The Unknown’ takes its listener on a dark journey, touching upon horror-influenced and theatrical elements like in ‘From Wolf to Peacock’ or ‘How deep lies Tartaros?’ to more straight-forward and heavy tracks like ‘The Kindred of the Sunset’ or the quasi-title track ‘Into the Unknown’. Underlying all songs is a unique THE VISION BLEAK mood, fusing melody with darkness, speed with technical precision and unique song-writing. The album comes off as a coherent whole and is produced in a suitable way. Thus, fans of the band as well as admirers of dark music are recommended to delve into the unknown.
