Wave Gotik Treffen 2018 (Day 4) with Dr. Mark Benecke, Rummelsnuff, Heimataerde, Japan Suicide, Silent Runners, Modern English, The Fright, Grave Pleasures and The Other
Already the last day of WGT 2018 has come. On the program today the lecture of Dr. Mark Benecke, a visit to the Pagan Village, some Post Punk at Haus Leipzig and the final with some Horror Punk at the Täubchenthal. And of course, we ended the festival like we started it: at the hotel bar with a cocktail in our hands and memories of some fantastic days…

Wave Gotik Treffen 2018 (Day 3) with Icelandic Chants, A Projection, Torul, Xenturion Prime, Elegant Machinery, Solitary Experiments, De/Vision, Vadot, Alphamay, Reichsfeind, Caisaron, Cellar Darling, Aeverium, Then Comes Silence and Zeraphine
Sunday is traditionally Synth Pop day for us. Since the Kohlrabizirkus was not available as venue this year, the program was transferred to the bigger Agra. But before we enjoyed the evening with electronic sounds, we first listened to Icelandic chants and to new Swedish band A PROJECTION. While halt of the team was dancing to synth music, the other half was up for Rock and Goth music.

The second festival day welcomed us with perfect weather: sunny and not too warm. Perfect to get the day started with the Victorian Village, Steampunk Picnic and the Catafalque Meeting. Further things that were planned were the reading of Sascha Lange, of course the concerts of ZEROMANCER and DIORAMA and for the rest of our team, some old-school Goth music was planned with ALL GONE DEAD and several more.

Wave Gotik Treffen 2018 (Day 1) with Oswald Henke, Markus Heitz, The Eden House, Seigmen, Rome, The Last Cry, Undertheskin, The Beauty Of Gemina, Merciful Nuns & Skeletal Family
Our team had planned a lot for the first day. We wanted to go to the Victorian Picnic, where HENKE announced a small “secret” gig, we planned a reading and the first show of SEIGMEN in Germany for twenty years. Part of our team enjoyed the program at Täubchenthal. It was hard to decide what band to visit at the evening. So many we wanted to see but played parallel. Like BLACK LINE, BOY HARSHER, DIE KAMMER and ASH CODE. At the end, due to time reasons, we ended at the Volkspalast for a wonderful ROME concert.

The Jesus and Mary Chain
THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN were to the early-eighties, what punk was to ’76 - a jolt to the system and a kick up the arse. Scowling and sulking, black-leather clad, and gleefully confrontational, their sound was murky, extreme and - despite obvious nods to THE VELVET UNDERGROUND - refreshingly original.
