Early this Friday evening, a crowd of extreme metal fans was waiting in the heavy rain in front of the concert hall in Gießen, to see their favourite thrash and death metal bands. Anyway the rain couldn’t drown the obvious smell of alcohol and flush away the pleasant anticipation of the fans. Those who hadn’t got a ticket in advance were waiting in the long line before the box office. Already at 6pm, the doors for the venue were opened. Although it was a Friday, the crowd was considerably small, since many people were still getting home from work or were stuck in the traffic. Consequently, there were not many people in front of the stage when FUELED BY FIRE started to play at quarter past six.

After a successful tour in Europe and Latin-America, Dutch symphonic rock band DELAIN went back to the studio to work on their third studio album. After ‘Lucidity’ and ‘April Rain’, their album ‘We are the Others’ was released this summer. Initially, support would be taken care of by Amanda Somerville (TRILLIUM), an American singer-songwriter who is known for her collaborations with several European metal bands such as AVANTASIA, EPICA, KAMELOT and AFTER FOREVER. Unfortunately, this support act was cancelled about a week before the show. Fortunately, SIN7SINS, was able to fill in their spot.

Steel Panther & Kobra And The Lotus

This Saturday night was without doubt one of the coldest nights this fall – at least on the outside. Inside the Gibson, a just recently established music club in the heart of Frankfurt/Main, the crowd was warming up for one of the hottest Glam Rock concerts and a wild party. The show already sold out a month in advance, and there must have been around thousand people who were packed in the club and arrived on time to start the first band play. Since it was one of only three tour dates in Germany and also the most southern location, many people had also travelled some distance to get there.

RADIOHEAD recovered: In June, the British band had to experience the ultimate nightmare when the stage for their open air show in Toronto collapsed just a few moments before doors open. The accident did not just destroy a lot of the equipment but sadly also killed a crew member. A few months and some cancelled and postponed shows later, RADIOHEAD picked up courage again and are back on track with the European leg of their “The King of Limbs” tour.

The Lebanese-born Armenian-American singer, songwriter, poet, activist, and multi-instrumentalist SERJ TANKIAN is probably better known as the leading voice of the alternative metal band SYSTEM OF A DOWN with which he released five albums. Now he’s touring Europe with his new solo album, stopping by in Oberhausen as well. The hall was not totally sold-out, but really packed when Serj started. But it was really well filled already when not announced opener THE HOLLYWOOD ARSON PROJECT entered the stage at 19:30, 30 minutes before the scheduled starting time…
