13th November 2021
E-tropolis Festival 2021 with Zweite Jugend, Torul, Fïx8:Sëd8, Eisfabrik, Absurd Minds, [X]-RX, Xotox, Solitary Experiments, Intent:Outtake, Hocico, Chrom, Covenant, Diorama and Front 242
What was originally planned for March 2020 and postponed several times due to this well-known C-virus took finally place on 13th November 2021. Still, not everything was “normal” yet. Access was only allowed with 3G, means recovered, vaccinated of tested. But once inside the venue, things felt quite normal. Not much distance, no masks, just excitement. People were standing together, chatting, hugging… just happy to celebrate together and to forget the pandemic for some hours.

Sinner’s Day 2021 Day 2 with Gary Numan, Funeral Dress, Covenant, Your Life On Hold, A Slice Of Life, The KVB, Diary of Dreams, Enzo Kreft, And Also the Trees, Such Beautiful Flowers, A Split Second, The Mars Model, BFG, De Delvers, Leaether Strip, Korinthians, Haujobb, Empathy Test
After arriving a little late yesterday, I was determined to not miss any bands on the second day. However, confused (and confusing) security and the problems entering the festival I previously mentioned meant I was still a little late for the first band EMPATHY TEST.

Sinner’s Day 2021 Day 1 with Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, Suicide Commando, Praga Khan, The Bollock Brothers, Blancmange, Absolute Body Control, Red Zebra, Siglo XX, Struggler, Glen Matlock, The Juggernauts, I Am The Shadow, This Can Hurt, The Foreign Resort
Arriving at Sinner’s Day in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium was quite a special thing to do. This was my first festival outside my home country of the UK since Covid - that itself was special, but it was the venue that impressed. I parked in the press car park, between a mineshaft winding tower and a huge industrial building where the festival was taking place. I arrived in the car park as the second band was on stage, as I opened my car door the sound of loud live music echoed around the industrial landscape. What a perfect way to get back to mainland European festivals!

Diary of Dreams
It has now been around 500 concerts in almost 40 countries since the first note from the “Diary of Dreams” sounded, and there is no end in sight. Everyone who knows this band knows about their achievements, created by none other than Adrian Hates - founder, singer and centre of the band, calling himself a creative pessimist. We owe this epic, dark, graceful, dramatic, fragile and extremely detailed music to his dark side and his creative use of it.
