The 69 Eyes
THE 69 EYES started in 1989 as a Sleaze band in Helsinki and over the years developed their very own style the Goth’n’Roll. The band is also known as “The Helsinki Vampires” among their fans and came over to Germany for the first time in 1998. Things kicked off during the early 2000s when they went on tour with PARADISE LOST and won over more and more fans. THE 69 EYES constantly toured during all these years not only in Europe but also in Australia, Japan, Russia in the USA establishing a big and very dedicated fan base. Celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary in 2019 they released their new album ‘West End’ and went on a mostly sold out tour in Europe and the USA. www.69eyes.com / www.facebook.com/the69eyes

Konzertsommer im Revier: Diorama & Zoodrake
It’s been a while since I travelled that far for a concert - and usually when it happened it was from Germany to Norway. Now it was the other way round: Oslo - Hamburg - Gelsenkirchen. A very special weekend trip and so deeply missed. The last show of the season 2021 at Circus Probst was about to happen. DIORAMA finally were able to present their latest album ‘Tiny Missing Fragments’ live after the previously planned show in November 2020 couldn’t happen due to Germany getting into the second lockdown just a few days before. The atmosphere before the show was so warm and great. So lovely to meet so many known faces and to have a nice chat with so many, just sharing the anticipation as we’ve all been waiting for at least 799 days for another DIORAMA live show to happen.

New Order & Support: LoneLady
NEW ORDER decided to return to UK live performances in style, after an 18-month enforced break due to Covid. This gig could be viewed as a warm-up gig to the one in their home town of Manchester, a couple of days later. However, this venue was handpicked for a reason. It’s a grade 1 listed 18th century hall, that was designed to impress visitors to Halifax and their textile industry - predating the regions grubbier industrial era. Piece Hall is the only remaining Georgian cloth hall in the world, it’s an amazing building that provides an atmospheric and very impressive backdrop to this special gig. The stage has been placed to showcase and take advantage of the halls impressive tall church like spire.

HRH Goth 2021 with Fields of the Nephilim, Jayce Lewis, Red Sun Revival, All My Thorns, The Webb, Drownd, deadfilmstar, Witch of the East, My Dying Bride, Lord of the Lost, Massive Ego, Auger, Seething Akira, St Lucifer, In Isolation and Novus
HRH is a long running group of UK festivals mainly catering for the Metal and Rock genres. It has expended to multiple festivals spanning many genres now, but the emphasis is still on rock music. There is a quarterly paper magazine to accompany the festivals sold at the likes of HMV stores. This is HRH’s first attempt at a Goth festival, which has attracted some criticism in the Goth scene - many have claimed it is not Goth enough and is not compatible to the grass roots nature of the scene.

Portals Festival 2021 with Jo Quail, Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster, Vasa, Luo, Big Lad, Hyena Kill
Portals is a festival that has been going for a few years now, since 2018 I think. Another music nugget within the fibres of the London music calendar that up until this year’s event I’d never heard of. What you get at a Portals event is a mixture of the weird, the experimental, the mathematical and last and by no means least, Post Punk. Events are put on at various events around London including The Black Heart Camden, The Olde Blue Last in Shoreditch and The Dome in Tufnell Park.
