Backstage, Munich, Germany

Beast In Black - “From Hell With Love” tour - Support: Myrath
Munich on a Monday evening, a sold out Backstage, a support band that had shaken Wacken this summer… “Great things to come!” so I thought. Nearly one year ago I saw BEAST IN BLACK live for the first time as support for NIGHTWISH in Helsinki and they really rocked Hartwall Arena. In March 2019 they sold out Backstage Munich during their headliner tour and played an amazing gig and promised to come back as soon as possible. In May I saw them at Metalfest in Pilsen and it was no surprise for me that they really rocked Metalfest. BEAST IN BLACK kept their promise and came back in November and Munich was ready to rock.

Jinjer - European “Macro” Tour 2019 - Support: Space Of Variations, Khroma, The Agonist
One of the most hyped bands in Metal at the moment performed at the Escher Kulturfabrik on Tuesday. That a band like JINJER would attract a lot of fans was almost predictable. Nevertheless the crowd was bigger than expected: The Kulturfabrik was bursting at the seams. Why? JINJER didn’t only play at Wacken, With Full Force or support bigger bands. No, they are currently on headliner tour and so successful that almost all shows are already sold out. As guests JINJER have packed THE AGONIST, KHROMA and SPACE OF VARIATIONS and promised an evening full of solid sounds.

Der Schwarze Ball with Front 242, Coma Alliance and BAK XIII
Organized by Noxiris and More than Mode, ‘Der Schwarze Ball’ is a regular music event that combines interesting, international live acts with the huge ‘More than Mode’ party on three floors - both parts covering all different styles and varieties of darker music. This time, the line-up was truly epic offering a gig by the influential pioneers of FRONT 242 on the one hand and the first Swiss gig of the still quite new though already well-known project of COMA ALLIANCE. Well, I have been looking for a reason to return to the beautiful city of Zurich for a long time anyway. And what better occasion could there be for leaving the planes of Northern Germany to finally visit again this picturesque town between the impressive mountains?

Zeromancer
ZEROMANCER announced this rare Oslo gig end of September and while the reviewer’s calendar was already saying “weekend in Zurich” (and so did the train tickets), it took about 24 hours to decide that this rare gig could not be missed. The show at the quite newly opened Youngs right in the city centre of Oslo promised to be unique - in an almost private atmosphere, full with highlights from the band’s 20 years of creating music and performing on stage like no one else.

Lebanon Hanover & Support: Konstantin Unwohl
‘The world is getting colder’ - the title of LEBANON HANOVER’s debut album from 2012 really fit to this day in November. At least on the Northern part of the globe. It was cold and windy when I walked to the autonomous youth centre “Glocksee”, a rundown building right at the banks of the Ihme River in the city of Hanover. The view to the opposite side of the river is dominated by the Ihme Centre, a relic of the 1970ies concrete brutalism. The location of the event could be more accurate.
