emperorbrutalassault2017posterNorwegian EMPEROR are going to play at Brutal Assault 2017! Norwegian black metal legends EMPEROR will return in 2017 for a few exclusive appearances, perfoming their "Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk" album in its entirety to celebrate the LP's 20th anniversary. The first confirmed show is next August at the Brutal Assault festival in Josefov, Czech Republic. EMPEROR have already done few reunion live appearances in the past - like in 2014 to celebrate a 20th-anniversary of the band's "In The Nightside Eclipse" album.

Next year will be dedicated to "Anthems..." album. Band's frontman Ihsahn (real name: Vegard Sverre Tveitan) recently confirmed that he sees "absolutely no point" in making another studio album with EMPEROR because the final product "would be a disappointment" to the group's fans, according to Blabbermouth.net. EMPEROR hasn't released any new material since 2001's "Prometheus - The Discipline Of Fire And Demise". That album was composed and mostly played by Ihsahn, with guitarist Samoth already forming his next band during its production.
