Founded in Chicago in 1988, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS quickly became icons of alternative music and culture, establishing themselves as one of the most influential bands of all time. Over their career, they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide, won two GRAMMY® Awards, seven MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. Their debut album ‘Gish’ (1991), the four-time platinum-certified ‘Siamese Dream’ (1993), the diamond-certified ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ (1995), the platinum-selling ‘Adore’ (1998), and the gold-certified ‘Machina/The Machines of God’ (2000) are all considered classics in music history. Rolling Stone even included ‘Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie’ and the ‘Infinite Sadness’ in their list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
Alternative music and culture would be unimaginable without the band’s iconic imagery - whether it’s the idyllic artwork of ‘Siamese Dream’, the legendary black “Zero” shirt, the nostalgic, carefree vibe of the ‘1979’ music video, the Gothic transformation of ‘Ava Adore’, or their multi-layered live shows, which continue to sell out venues worldwide.
In 2018, The Smashing Pumpkins released ‘Shiny And Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun.’ and embarked on the hugely successful “Shiny and Oh So Bright” arena tour. Building on that momentum, they released their 11th studio album, ‘CYR’ - a bold step forward in their ongoing evolution. In 2023, the band released ‘ATUM’, a sequel to ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ (1995) and ‘Machina/The Machines of God’ (2000). Immediately after, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS began work on ‘Aghori Mhori Mei’, a record that sees original members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha revisiting the raw energy of their early 90s sound, where guitars, bass, drums, and piercing vocals reigned supreme.
