skunk anansie summer2025SKUNK ANANSIE are back! 30 years after their formation and more than eight years since their last studio album, fans can finally look forward to new music and a European tour! Following their already announced and partially sold-out tour in March, the British band led by frontwoman Skin will return for additional summer shows in Germany. In addition to the previously announced Markdorf Open Air on July 2, they will also perform live in Würzburg, Wiesbaden, and Saarbrücken at the end of June.

When SKUNK ANANSIE formed in London in 1994, the music scene was dominated by Britpop, mostly led by white male guitar bands. But Deborah “Skin” Dyer, Martin “Ace” Kent, Richard “Cass” Lewis, and Robbie broke the mould. As one of the first mixed-race bands, they stood out from the start - not just musically, but also politically and socially. Their activist stance and outsider identity became a key part of their DNA, but most importantly, they built a reputation as an incredible live band. Within just a few weeks of their first gig, they landed a record deal and released their debut album, ‘Paranoid and Sunburnt’, in 1995. Shortly after, drummer Robbie France left, and Mark Richardson took over.

Their 1996 album ‘Stoosh’ brought them international breakthrough success and Platinum status in the UK. Three years later, ‘Post Orgasmic Chill’ solidified their legacy, leading to another major milestone: SKUNK ANANSIE headlined the legendary Glastonbury Festival after just five years together. At the turn of the millennium, the band announced a hiatus, allowing members to explore solo projects. But in 2008, they returned triumphantly with a sold-out reunion tour and the Best-Of album ‘Smashes & Trashes’. Their fourth studio album ‘Wonderlustre’ (2010) achieved Gold status in multiple European countries, and later releases ‘Black Traffic’ (2012) and ‘Anarchytecture’ (2016) proved they could still deliver fresh, critically acclaimed music.

Famous for their electrifying live performances, SKUNK ANANSIE made their mark supporting music legends like U2, DAVID BOWIE, and AEROSMITH. With over 30 years in the industry, they have rightfully earned their place as one of the most influential British bands of all time. Their unique blend of punk energy and politically charged lyrics makes them more relevant than ever.
