When QNTAL was formed in 1991, firstly Michael Popp and Ernst Horn considered it as a secondary project beside their miscellaneous activities. Up to now, the mediaeval lyrics, the modern electronic sounds and the classical voice of lead singer Syrah have represented the band’s style that is committed to the Middle Age and its languages, for example Latin and Middle High German.

13. February 2009 Veljanov releases one of the most popular "Porta Macedonia" album songs "We can't turn back". The single will be available only as download version on iTunes, Musicload, AOL, Saturn and Mediamarkt. The new single comes along with a new video clip. The video is based on recordings of the release concert in the Admiralspalast in Berlin, which was broadcasted live via the world wide web last year.
