Sony are soon to release a new single (September 25th) and album (October 1st) for their goth metal success formula Evanescence. The single, "Call Me When You're Sober", is taken from their forthcoming new album "The Open Door" and will be available in 3 formats: MCD, CDS and 7". The 4 track maxi will include three versions of the title track (including the video) plus a 'making of' video clip. The 2-track CDS will include the album and acoustic versions of the title track just like the 2-track 7" vinyl. So far the singles. As far as the follow up to their "Fallen" album is concerned, "The Open Door" will hold 13 racks and is bound to reach the same success as "Fallen". Source: http://www.side-line.com/

EMI is to release a special edition of Placebo's "Placebo" CD on September 18th. Originally released in 1996, "Placebo" became one of the seminal rock albums of the 90's. This remaster features the previously unreleased demo "Paycheck" plus the fan club only demo of "Flesh Mechanic". Additionally this expanded version includes two long deleted b-sides and a hidden track "H K Farewell". The bonus DVD contains all promo videos from the album plus previously unavailable Live and TV performances. The tracklist for the DVD is as follows: 01. Come Home - Alexandra Palace - 11.04.06, 02. September 25 will see the release of the newest single from Covenant, "Brave New World". Out on SPV/Synthetic Symphony it comes after the album "Skyshaper" and the (sold out) limited EP "Ritual Noise". The EP will contain new material including 4 new versions of the title-track plus the exclusive "The New Virus" and a special DVD-Trailer for the forthcoming Covenant DVD "In Transit". Laibach announce us the brand new album release, "Volk". The follow up to 2003's "WAT", the album will be released on Mute on 23rd October and will be preceded by a single release, "Anglia" on 9th October 2006. "Volk" is a collection of interpretations of national anthems and includes the national anthem for NSK, the State in time without territory and national boundaries which Laibach have been linked with since its formation in 1984. The opening track, "Germania" uses "Das Lied der Deutschen", originally written in 1797 and used after World War I as the national anthem of the German Empire at the time of the Weimar Republic, and reinterprets it while the single, "Anglia", uses John Bull's "God Save The Queen" as its inspiration. The tracks are mostly sung in English and each anthem has a guest singer, often singing in their native language. Other national anthems included come from the USA, Russia, Italy, Spain, Israel, Turkey, China, Japan, Slovenia and the Vatican. The album will come in a limited edition hardback book format with watercolour artwork by Laibach as well as full sleeve notes explaining each track. Laibach will announce UK dates for later in the year in the near future. In related info, from Friday 1st September on, The Custard Factory in Birmingham will host a weekend of events that features the British premiere of the Laibach kunst inhibition "Instrumentality of the State Machine".
