During their celebrated shows at “Rock am Ring” and “Rock im Park” Placebo emerged as the secret headliner. The show there was attended by as many visitors as with the big names “Depeche Mode”, “Metallica” and “Guns N’ Roses”. But the euphoric reactions were not that surprising – the trio around front man Brian Molko has developed to one of the biggest and best Alternative-acts on our planet long ago. Rock-press is regularly celebrating the band with extended title stories and Placebo-CDs always climb up the charts into the Top Ten in much more than 20 countries.

AOL Music News reports that EVANESCENCE is offering a taste of its new album, "The Open Door", in a movie-like teaser featuring the track "Lacrymosa". Watch the trailer at AOL.com, YouTube.com."The Open Door" is scheduled for release on October 3 via Wind-Up. The band's second major label offering, "The Open Door" will follow up 2003's six-million-selling "Fallen". When asked to describe the sound of the new disc, singer Amy Lee told Launch it was hard to explain. "It's different than the last album, but it's still EVANESCENCE," she said. "I think the fans are really gonna love it. I'm a fan, I love this band, I wouldn't be doing it if I wouldn't love it, and I love it, so I guess that's sort of my gauge for everything. But it's different, it's kind of fun and sexy, but it's still, like, dark and, like, really epic at times."

Release can reveal that Bon Harris and Douglas McCarthy got so inspired by playing together as Nitzer Ebb again on the current "Body of Works" tour that they are currently working on new material.
We started to write new music a couple of weeks ago, and our plan is to release an EP with new Nitzer Ebb material before the end of 2006, says Bon Harris during a Release interview at the Arvika Festival last Friday. According to Bon, the new material will be back to basics - back to the roots of Nitzer Ebb - and the sound will be very simple and direct.
If all goes as planned, Nitzer Ebb will test the new songs live in August. The double compilation "Body of Work" is out now (review here) and the remix album "Body Rework" will be out on July 26, both with old recordings.

This is the Black Metal sensation of the year: the organizers of the Wacken Open Air just announced that IMMORTAL will play at the festival in 2007. The trio which disbanded in 2003 will return in the line up Abbath / Horgh plus special guests. The band had the following to say about these more than excellent news: "IMMORTAL are proud to announce that we will headline Wacken in 2007.
