Although there has been no official release by the band or his relatives about the date of his passing away it appears to be Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett, founder of Pink Floyd, has died because of a diabetes-related illness on July 7th 2006. Syd Barrett has been out of public life for a long time but has been in the hearts and minds of many Pink Floyd fans all over the world, not to forget the other band members of Pink Floyd, including of course Roger Waters. They have dedicated one of their all time classics to their friend. With a small quote from this masterpiece called 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' we'd like to remember this remarkable man who was at the cradle of symphonic music.

The festival based at Hildesheim has grown substantially since its recent beginnings in 2000 and is now a fixture on the European festival landscape. The biggest European wave and gothic festival attracts every year about 25.000 fans to celebrate a melancholic-dark weekend. A fashionable outfit with a touch of middle-age in combination with lacquer and leather is as popular as black colour or if necessary white. The most fans show themselves in the same individual and artificial way like the artists on stage. A lot of the famous bands and artists of the wave and gothic scene are mostly not for the first time at the M'ERA LUNA FESTIVAL. A new album release is not absolutely necessary for an appearance at this festival. The audience often wishes their good known idols to whom they feel close to but they also wait in suspense for unknown newcomers.

We had a great time this last week at our U.S. shows. Thanks to everyone who made it out to see us!
We're heading off to Europe and Japan for some club and festival dates. There are a lot of great shows coming up and we look forward to seeing you at points near and far! One of the highlights of the summer will be double performances at both the Reading and Leeds Festivals where we'll be appearing on the Main Stages as well as the BBC Lock-Up Stages! The live DVD slips perfectly into gear as expected. Only one week after the release, the DVD already reached gold status in Germany and left superstars like Pink, Ronan Keating and Scooter behind. Even Madonna who also released a Live DVD two weeks after Nightwish had no chance! NIGHTWISH entered the german album charts at #3 and was several weeks at #1 of the DVD charts at the same time. In Austria the DVD was also a long time on #2. The live DVD of Pink, which was released the same week, only entered at #32. Last week the NIGHTWISH DVD pushed back the Pink DVD to #4 in Austria.
