It has become a tradition that the benefit festival in favour of the children’s hospices “Möwennest Oberhausen” and “Arche Noah Gelsenkirchen” takes place in autumn at the Kulttempel Oberhausen. Once again, now for the fifth time, a number of some, in the gothic scene well- known, bands perform in order to raise money for a good cause.

Occasionally it takes only a tiny spark, a brief but highly inspiring moment, to reignite a quietly smouldering fire. Hayo Lewerentz and Ingo Hauss experienced that moment almost two years ago when – without a specific objective in mind, really – they recorded a song with British vocalist James Knights. In the process, the three musicians discovered to their own surprise that the result came surprisingly close to the characteristic sound of their band BOYTRONIC. "We immediately knew that we felt like writing a full BOYTRONIC album again," recalls Lewerentz, looking back at the initial inspiration that eventually culminated in the release of their new album, ‘Jewel’. When soon afterwards the video to accompany the song in question – entitled ‘Time After Midnight’ – met with enthusiastic reactions on the internet, fuelling their fans' requests for new BOYTRONIC material, they decided to intensify the band's activities again a good ten years after their previous studio recording Dependence. Lewerentz: "Strictly speaking we've never been a permanent band in the traditional sense but rather a project consisting of musicians who get together for specific stuff. As our previous singer Holger is not available at the moment and we've found his ideal successor in James we felt we had come up with the perfect constellation for a new project."

So there is another opportunity to enjoy the old anthems. His name stands for international successful German Heavy Metal. Udo Dirkschneider's voice is the soul of many timeless hits like ‘Metal Heart’, ‘Princess Of The Dawn’ or ‘Balls To The Wall’. After his last your, quickly many fans wanted more concerts. Overwhelmed by lots of positive feedback and last but not least the enormous success of the previous tour, there will be a continuation in this autumn. “There are still so many hits that we did not play the last time, but they were always wanted,” says Udo Dirkschneider. “So let's do it on this tour now.”

ESBEN AND THE WITCH are kicking off a last string of shows this year at the Deaf Row Fest in the East German city of Jena tomorrow, September 23rd. After only 5 more dates in 4 countries, the final curtain of this leg will fall at the Ekko in Utrecht, The Netherlands on the 30th of September.

ESBEN AND THE WITCH comment: "We are pleased to announce that we shall soon be dusting ourselves down after the summer festivals and heading out for one final run of club shows in September. These will be our last live dates this year before we hole up for winter and immerse ourselves in something altogether new. For now, come down and witness the 'Older Terrors' one more time."
