This week sees the release of “d’Olde Roop”, the debut full-length album from Blackened Folk Metallers MONDVOLLAND, on the Netherlands based Apollon Records label. The subject matter of the nine-track album, whose title means “The Old Call” in the Eastern Dutch dialect, deals with two distinct historical periods in the Hamaland, the central eastern region of Gelderland, which is where the band originates. Drawing inspiration from local stories and myths, the first period covers the early Middle Ages, when much of the local written folklore was destroyed by the Frankish kings who had, by this time, converted to Christianity.
The most promising Swedish Electro Pop newcomer returns! On “Take Cair Paramour”, Ashbury Heights shine with a distinctly matured vision of the “New Wave 2.0” sound. The duo spices up those breezy beats and melodies that defined Eighties electronic Pop music with a lot of timely low end “oomph”, a pinch of fucked-up zeitgeist, the androgynous sex-appeal of Bowie and his lot and a healthy dose of teenage angst and rebellion, graced with a compact and airtight mix by sound wizard John Fryer. “Take Cair Paramour” has become a feast of catchy tunes with elaborate arrangements, thrilling male-/female-alternations and a perfect balance of pathos and Pop. The two Swedes do not write mere songs – Ashbury Heights are writing anthems! The first pressing comes with a bonus disc that contains exclusive, unreleased songs, alternative versons and remixes. Torch songs for a new generation…
Epical cinematic Pop moments, sexy and electronic! On her second album, Elena Alice Fossi, better known as the singer of the Italian cult-group Kirlian Camera, promenades through Tinsel Town in high heels with her all-girl band SPECTRA*paris. At the edge of Pop, Glam-Rock, Alternative and Electro, the alluring ladies are spicing up today’s music scene with fresh energy, inviting you to a glittering homage to the glamour of the big screen. With her powerful, versatile and matchless voice, Elena Alice metamorphoses from innocent girl into grand diva to savage rock singer, gracefully moving through her sonic short films, ranging from spy stories to horror flicks, with distinguished Pop-appeal. “License To Kill” is released as a regular CD album containing a Warholesque, punky bonus DVD and as a strictly limited, lavish fan-box containing a clear vinyl version of the album, a poster, a patch and a classy shape-CD-membership card including an exclusive, previously unreleased track.
