The Greek Depeche Mode fans that had gathered at the Terra Vibe Park near Athens yesterday evening didn't really get the show they had expected. Over 30.000 people got the not so pleasant message that the show was canceled due to Gahan being rushed to hospital. Apparently David Gahan fell ill in his dressing room.

"My friend is part of the support band Puressence, and phoned me and said that Dave was fine this afternoon, and Martin was changed in his stage costume so seems to have been a very last minute desision. My friend is barricaded backstage until the crowd calm down." says YouTube member robrumbell.

In its 13th year the association ‘Jugend Dischingen e.V.’ organizes the yearly festival highlight in East Württemberg and from year to year the festival developed to a real crowd puller. During the last years we managed time after time to present a band program with several top acts like ALICE COOPER, MOTÖRHEAD, IN EXTREMO, APOCLYPTICA, SAXON and many more framed inside beautiful scenery the festival strikes with its top organization, a great mood and still retains a familiar atmosphere on stage and behind the scenes. On 19th and 20th June the biggest festival in East Württemberg takes place and just as its other incarnations keeps the promise of presenting a top class and diversified program with the confirmed headliners: HAMMERFALL, EDGUY, DORO and ENSIFERUM.

The farewell act the Highfield Festival will perform this year at Stausee Hohenfelden before starting over at a new location in 2010 is going to be huge. The re-united FAITH NO MORE besides DIE TOTEN HOSEN and ARCTIC MONKEYS will make sure you won’t soon forget this party. And also PATRICK WOLF, the British singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist with his crude mixture of folk and electronics as well as the Australian rockers of THE TEMPER TTRAP leave not much room for sentimentalities.

The schedule for the festival is almost complete with just a little fine-tuning lying ahead of us. In the meantime 2/3 of all available tickets have been sold and with this interim’s result we can relate to the successes of the last few years. Besides the challenge to put up a diverse and interesting musical program, we’re constantly working on organisational improvements. An actual focus of the work is the ongoing Anti-Garbage campaign. In collaboration with our partners of Gastro Team Bremen cooled beverages + deposit cam be offered this year at much cheaper prices on the camping grounds. On several easily accessible corners of the area you can buy 0.5 litres of beer for just 1 EUR. For the same price you’ll get 1.5 litres of water + deposit of course. Within the scopes of the above mentioned campaign we’re also aiming to reduce the amount of garbage. Statistically speaking every attendee of the Hurricane festival leaves about 5 kilos of garbage. Not just a little part of the garbage consists of drink packaging.

Finally it’s happening and we’re pleased to announce the dates of the upcoming ‘Of Faith, Power & Glory’ tour. The first leg of the tour will lead the band through 9 European countries. More shows in different countries a planned for a later point in time. The first show is taking place at Rostock’s Mau Club to where the band’s finally returning to be guests. The last show, how surprising, will be a home game at the Docks club in Hamburg. As first confirmed support act ROTERSAND will accompany VNV NATION on this leg with new material and contribute their fair share to deliver a great package for the fans. The second band will be revealed soon.
