Back in the early 80’s the Synth Pop duo SOFT CELL, consisting of DAVE BALL and MARC ALMOND became famous with the single ‘Tainted love‘ that was N°1 in the charts of many countries. The charismatic singer is notorious for the black eyeliner, red lips and dark clothes as well as his big gestures when performing and his recognizable vocals.
After four albums the duo split in 1984 in order to pursue their solo projects. With the extraordinary interpretation of GENE PITNEY’s song ‘Something’s gotten hold of my heart‘ MARC ALMOND celebrated an international N°1 song and the biggest success of his solo career. During the years he worked with all kind of renowned musicians like NICO, SIOUXSIE SIOUX, NINA HAGEN, JIMMY SOMERVILLE, ROSENSTOLZ and MATT JOHNSON. On the occasion of the, just in March launched, album ‚The Velvet trail‘ MARC ALMOND is touring the continent, including four shows in Germany.
