Finland is well known for its Heavy Metal scene - but that’s only one part of the story. There are also bands like MAUSTETYTÖT - a Finnish Indie Pop group consisting of the sisters Anna and Kaisa Karjalainen. The band’s trademarks include lyrics in their mother language, a laconic and serious-looking performance style and a dead-certain taste in fashion. However, there is one thing they have in common with Heavy Metal. According to Antti Luukkanen from the Finnish music mag Soundi, the songs contain “everyday realism and the glamor of downright misery”. Their lyrics are about being broke, lonely, drunk or hung-over. All of that - and that’s the difference to Metal - covered with sweet and catchy Pop themes and spherical sounds.The band has toured their homeland Finland extensively and is about to win hearts and minds of Central Europe in May.

The duo has produced three records so far and is going to present their latest album ‘Maailman onnellisin kansa’ (‘Happiest Nation in the World’). Is there a touch of irony and a trace of self-irony. in the title? That’s for sure!
