For over 15 years, Scottish singer-songwriter AMY MACDONALD has captivated fans of all ages with her extraordinary storytelling talent and unmistakable voice. Born in 1987 near Glasgow, Macdonald discovered her passion for music after attending a concert by the rock band Travis. Enthralled, she bought her first guitar at the age of 13 and taught herself to play. She soon began writing her own songs and performing in pubs and cafés around her hometown. At just 18, she sent out demo recordings to record labels and signed a contract with Vertigo in 2007. That same year, she released her debut album: ‘This Is The Life’ became a surprise success. With over three million copies sold, chart-topping positions in her home country and across Europe, and more than 15 platinum certifications, the numbers speak for themselves. Audiences were particularly taken with her charming Scottish accent, powerful lyrics, and the unique blend of guitar pop and folk music. Overnight, AMY MACDONALD became a star.But she didn’t rest on her success. Her second album, ‘A Curious Thing’, followed in 2010, once again reaching top chart positions and earning multiple platinum awards. Her third release, ‘Life In A Beautiful Light’, continued this streak of success. After several personal changes, the musician retreated for a time to her hometown to regroup and quietly write new music. From that period came her fourth album, ‘Under Stars’, released in 2017 to great acclaim. In October 2020, she followed up with her fifth album, ‘The Human Demands’, written during the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, she returns with her sixth record: ‘Is This What You've Been Waiting For?’ will be released on 11 July 2025 and features a bold collection of new songs that delve into toxic friendships, the suffocating aspects of romantic relationships, and the desire to break free from societal constraints. The album’s central message is her unwavering determination to keep going - a sentiment she hopes to pass on to her audience. To celebrate this new chapter, AMY MACDONALD will embark on a major European tour in spring 2026, once again proving why she is considered one of the most emotional and dynamic live performers. She will also stop in Germany for a total of six concerts - shows you won’t want to miss.
