Review Flash

Formed between 1996 and 1997 the five-piece from Porto Alegre, Brazil originally were called MALTHUSIAN. Later on the band (minus the bassist) MALTHUSIAN became HIBRIA. The band released a demo in 1997 called ‘Metal Heart’ the following demo was named ‘The Faceless’ shortly after the release of the latter the band toured Europe. Finally in 2003 and 2004 HIBRIA composed and recorded the material for their debut album ‘Defying the Rules’ which was released over Remedy Records. HIBRIA is well known for their technique and speed; they play in the spirit of IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA, HELLOWEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH, MANOWAR and DREAM THEATER.

So now in 2014 I have the honour and the pleasure to review the newest chapter of this bands history, I was and will forever be a sucker for powerful voices and Luri Sanson (vocals) has a very powerful voice. It is a heavy metal fan boys dream come true to listen to these guys. Ironically this Brazilian band brings the best of US metal and European embossed power metal together and creates a very cool heavy metal alloy…

Conclusion: If you like the sound of European power metal mixed with thrash and typical US speed metal and some prog here and there (or at least can imagine the sound) you should really give this a shot. I think we will see and hear these guys again but maybe on another level next time (the record companies have to be mad to not sign them, congratulations to AFM for this signing).

PS: BUY THIS RECORD!!!
