Review Flash

Ridiculously young and bursting with all the fizz, expectation and cocky optimism you’d expect from a fresh band gathering rave reviews, SUNDARA KARMA let new release EP1 explode from within themselves with an almost casual smug shrug and told-you-so flick of a fringe. This is fiery and exuberant, lead track ‘Loveblood’ fabulously spirited, the rest not too far behind. No dead wood here, ‘The Night’ has a grubby bass underpinning STARSAILOR vocals, there’s an addictive update of INSPIRAL CARPETS on ‘Freshbloom’ and a bruised, bluesy, smoky slow-burner in ‘Waves’, the kind of song RICHARD ASHCROFT should have perfected had his ego not swallowed him whole. Influences on show, sure, but when belted out with such youthful self-belief it’s impossible not to crumble.

Conclusion: There is no doubt SUNDARA KARMA will single-handedly save modern guitar music, reverse the effects of ageing, stop deforestation and end all wars, but while they are getting there, buy this and try not to smile.
