Any news from Dying Victims Productions’ Florian are good news, as you guys know there are thing I love to review and things I despise to do a write-up about. SOULCASTER belongs to category number one. SOULCASTER, once again, is a band shrouded in mystery (no names to be found of band members etc). Good! Ok! The label says this is for fans of VISIGOTH, ETERNAL CHAMPION and MANILLA ROAD and I agree in parts: The crankiness and eccentric of these guys fits to Mark Shelton’s love-child but I don’t recognise a similarity to the sound of VISIGOTH (the lyrics are based on fantasy tales but VISIGOTH is melodic in a whole different way). The vocals are a bit reluctant sound-wise (mixed a bit in the background) and the overall instrumentation sometimes borders on more extreme forms of Metal than just Epic Metal but all in all this fits together nicely and I really want to know what comes next with the guys first LP.
Conclusion: If the vocals change a bit for the LP (gimme that in LOUD!), I can see these guys making a mark in the underground.
