Review Flash

I have a weak spot for power trios, the simplicity of only three instruments calms my troubled soul. PHANTOM HOUND from Oakland, California play a kind of Doom Blues with Stoner / Grunge elements. ‘Mountain Pass’ is the band’s debut record and it sounds heavy and dry as fuck. Think of a slowed down version of KYUSS with a big, nice kick of Blues to it. Jake Navarra’s vocals fit like a glove on songs like ‘The Northern Face’ or ‘Mountain Pass’. Rough, smoky and drenched in Whiskey. It is important to mention that Stephen Roger’s bass is audible all the fuckin’ time (sweet baby Jesus!). All in all I am very satisfied with the sound instrument-wise, drums, bass, and guitar sound crisp as fuck. My favourite additional to those I already mentioned is ‘Devil Blues’.

Conclusion: If you are into music that leaves you hungover and burned out yet yearning for even more, check out PHANTOM HOUND!
